Lama Kalsang is a widely recognized and accomplished teacher and translator of Tibetan Buddhism. Born in
Tibet
, he is learned in sutra and tantra and has spent long periods in meditative retreat. Venerable Lama Kalsang Gyaltsen advanced religious training from many great teachers of the Sakya Tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, including His Holiness the Sakya Trizin and His Eminence Luding Khen Chen Rinpoche. For the past three decades, he has taught the Dharma widely in the
United States
and
Southeast Asia
.
In 1986, Lama Kalsang established

Phuntsok
Ling
Center
for Tibetan Buddhist Study and Meditation in
Silver Spring
,
Maryland
. In April, 2001, His Holiness Sakya Trizin requested him to establish Tsechen Kunchab Ling Temple in
Orange County
,
New York
as His Holiness’ seat in the
United States
.
As Vice President of Tsechen Kunchab Ling, he has taken primary responsibility for the temple's development and on-going management, under the blessing and guidance of His Holiness the Sakya Trizin. Venerable Lama Kalsang Gyaltsen is very active in translating the Dharma into English and has translated many books on Buddhist philosophy, prayers, and rituals.
